About Jo and Joe
This is us! Joe is on the left and Jo is on the right. We've been working together for nearly 10 years - we met whilst working in
the design studio at a UK diving holiday company. We were
having loads of fun designing brochures, advertising campaigns and websites
when the opportunity came up for us to help set up the Red Sea branch of
the company, so we upped sticks and moved to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. It was during our time there that our love for the underwater world really grew.
After a memorable year, we hung up our fins and returned to th UK, looking forward to grass, rain and cars with headlights! We got married (to each other!) in 2005 and went to a tiny dot of an island in the Maldives on honeymoon. It was there, whilst snorkelling, that we saw the synchronised squid which became the inspiration for this site.
For a bit of fun we decided to recreate that scene as an underwater animation. It's not a format we usually work in so it was a great opportunity to learn something new. Having played about with the squid for a few weeks, we began to float around ideas for a bunch of animations which would make interesting e-cards. We wanted to create something really beautiful - cards which people would be proud to send, and which friends and family would be delighted to receive.
Joandjoe.com is run by a small team (Jo...and...erm....Joe). We don't have a cast of hundreds behind the scenes, and we don't have hundreds of cards for every occasion. It's quality not quantity we're after, and with your support we'll grow the site organically. We'll add new cards every month or so, and drop you a line when this happens.
