Jo & Joe e-card privacy policy

Protecting our members privacy is very important to us. We will never pass your details on to a third party for marketing purposes and that's a promise.

We don't allow advertising on the site, and we will never send you spam email.

We'll only send the things that you've asked for, and you can change your mind about this at any time by logging into to your account and changing your contact preferences in your profile.

Here is our policy in full:

When you join

When you join us, we need certain information which is necessary for you to be able to send cards, receive birthday reminders, and if you'd like to be kept abreast of the goings on at joandjoe.com, receive our occasional email updates.

We’ll need to know which country you're in so that we can charge your membership fee in the correct currency. We also use this information to deliver your Birthday reminders and future card deliveries during the morning in your particular time zone (clever eh?!).

We'll contact you when it's time to renew your membership, and also in response to your 'help' enquiries should you need us. We'll also contact you with any billing or payment issues.

When you send a card

When you send a card, we will gather your email address, and the email address of the person you're sending to. We need this to send the card, and to let you know when it's been picked up. We will not use your recipients address for any purpose other than to deliver their greeting.

Your card is treated as private correspondence - the contents will not be disclosed to any third party, nor do we monitor the contents of your personalised messages. However….if you anonymously send someone a nasty or offensive message in an e-card from our website and the recipient complains to us about it, we will have to look at your message. If it seems to us that the recipient has a genuine cause for complaint, then we reserve the right to tell that person who sent it. And, if we are threatened with any legal proceedings or are approached by the authorities, we may, at our discretion, disclose the information we have about you, the message and when it was sent without a court order being served upon us forcing us to do so.

So, please don't harass people – it’s not very nice!

Cookies

A cookie is a very small text file placed on your hard drive by our server. It's like an ID card which allows us to recognise you automatically when you visit - it's unique to you and can only be read by the server that gave it to you (in this case us). You can set your browser to notify you when you've received a cookie but the default setting is usually to accept them. It is important to note that you may not be able to use certain features on our web site if you choose not to accept cookies from us.

Advertising

Simple - there isn't any!

Monitoring website traffic

We track the way our visitor and members use our website so that we can improve and develop it - we collect this information in aggregate, not on an individual basis. We'll use this traffic data when developing new cards, and enhancing the features on the site.

Changes to this Policy

If we change our Privacy Policy we will post the changes on this page and may place notices on other pages of our website. We will also e-mail you to tell you that a change has been made. If you continue to use our Service after the change has been made, that will signify to us that you have agreed to those changes.
